Trello integration
Connect Capture to Trello to automatically create cards with complete context for any bug. Screenshots, descriptions, and technical details flow directly into your Trello boards without manual copying.
Connecting Trello
To connect Trello to Capture, you'll need to be a team admin:
- Go to the Integrations page in your Capture dashboard
- Find Trello and click Connect
- You'll be redirected to Trello to authenticate and grant Capture access
- Once connected, you can configure default destination settings
Individual mode (optional)
By default, all Trello cards created by Capture will show as "Created by" the person who connected the integration. If you'd prefer cards to be attributed to the team member who actually reported them, enable individual mode.
In individual mode:
- Each team member connects their own Trello account
- Cards they create appear in Trello as coming from them
- Team members can connect via the Integrations page or directly from the destination settings when creating their first capture
The original connection becomes the "primary connection" and is used for:
- Setting default destination settings on the integration management page
- Creating cards from bugs reported by customers or guest users (when auto-publish is enabled)
Tip: If you don't want to use individual mode, consider creating a shared Trello user for Capture (like "capture-bot@yourcompany.com") and connecting with that account instead.
Configuring default settings
After connecting, configure where bug reports should go by default:
- Board - Which Trello board to create cards in
- List - Which list within the board to add cards to
These defaults can be overridden when creating individual bug reports.
Important: If you're using individual mode, users can only publish to boards and lists they have access to in Trello. If default settings point to a board or list a user can't access, publishing will fail for that capture.
Auto-publish
Enable auto-publish to automatically send every bug report to Trello without manual selection. When auto-publish is enabled:
- The Trello integration is turned on by default when creating captures
- Users can still disable it for individual reports if needed
- Bug reports by guest users are automatically sent to Trello using the default settings
If auto-publish is disabled, users can opt in to publishing each report to Trello when they create it, or after creation from the capture dashboard.
What gets sent to Trello
When a bug report is published to Trello, the card includes:
- Screenshot or screen recording - Attached to the card
- Description - The user's explanation of what went wrong
- Environment details - Browser, device, and operating system information
- Custom context - Any additional data your team has configured in the Web SDK
- Link to full report - A link back to Capture.dev where developers can view console logs, network requests, and complete technical context
