Slack integration
Connect Capture to Slack to automatically post bug reports to your team's channels.
Capture works as a Slack app that brings visual bug reporting directly into your workspace.
Connecting Slack
To connect Slack to Capture, you'll need to be a team admin:
- Go to the Integrations page in your Capture dashboard
- Find Slack and click Connect
- You'll be redirected to Slack to authorize the Capture app
- Once connected, you can configure default destination settings
Configuring a Slack channel
After connecting, configure the notification channel where bug reports should be posted by default.
This default can be overridden when creating individual bug reports, allowing you to route different types of issues to different channels.
Auto-publish
Enable auto-publish to automatically send every bug report to Slack without manual selection. When auto-publish is enabled:
- The Slack integration is turned on by default when creating captures
- Users can still disable it for individual reports if needed
- Bug reports by guest users are automatically sent to Slack using the default settings
If auto-publish is disabled, users can opt in to publishing each report to Slack when they create it, or after creation from the capture dashboard.
What gets posted to Slack
When a bug report is published, the Capture.dev Slack app automatically turns it into a rich preview containing:
- Report title - A clear headline summarizing the issue
- Screenshot - The captured screenshot posted directly in the channel (for screenshot-based reports)
- Screen recording - An inline video player showing the full recording (for screen recording-based reports)
- Link to full report - A link to Capture.dev where developers can view console logs, network requests, environment details, and complete technical context
The Capture Slack app also automatically unfurls Capture.dev links pasted directly into any Slack channel. When someone shares a bug report link, Slack displays the same rich preview with the screenshot or video inline.
